Peter Voisey: Tenor Saxophone

Picture

Originally from Ottawa, Peter Voisey graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto, where he studied Oboe and English Horn with Melvin Berman.

He has performed with many Canadian orchestras including the Canadian Opera Company, the National Ballet, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Orchestra London, and the Thunder Bay Symphony.  He held the position of second oboe and solo English horn with the Windsor Symphony for ten seasons.  Peter is currently principal oboe of the Toronto Concert Orchestra, where he is also Personnel Manager.

Peter’s work in the commercial music scene has included many studio recordings for radio, television and film.  No stranger to musical theatre, he has played in countless shows including the Toronto productions of Mary Poppins, The Producers, Crazy for You, The Sound of Music, Show Boat and Napoleon.  Peter’s talents have also taken him on tour with North American productions, and onstage with the orchestras of such noted performers as Placido Domingo, Johnny Mathis, Joan Sutherland, Richard Harris, Roger Hodgson and Hugh Jackman.

As well as playing Oboe and English Horn, Peter performs as a multi instrumentalist on saxophones, clarinets, flutes and recorders. Peter has also played saxophone with several Toronto and area big bands, Barrie’s Baytowne Big Band, and of course, with the DMSQ.
